The Musicians of Swing Street

Jim Stenzel Guitar/Vocals

  

An engineer for Xerox Corporation for 40 years, Jim Stenzel has been playing guitar since his teens. He played in bands in high school and college, and in his 20's, led a successful Rochester NY pop band for 15 years. Jim started playing actively again in his 50's in a small jazz combo, then joining his Dad in a Big Band after moving to Ft. Myers. He is a founding member of Swing Street, plying his talents as a guitarist, vocalist, and arranger in both trio, and quintet iterations of this highly regarded band.  

Dave Adams Keyboard/Vocals

  

Originally from Easton PA, Dave Adams has been playing keyboard since the age of ten. During his high school and college years he played with several bands, performing at many of the top clubs and resorts in the Pocono Mountains and Philadelphia area. He holds a “Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education” from West Chester University where he majored in piano and voice. As the Music Director, and Arts and Business Departments Chair at Gloucester High School in Massachusetts, he was recognized in 2012 by the State House and Senate for his accomplishments. As a member of Swing Street, he lends his keyboard and voice talent to perform a variety of music genres with this outstanding group of professional musicians

Greg Smith Percussionist/Vocals

  

Greg started playing drums at 10 years old, learning "wipe-out" by the Safari's and playing at the Elementary School Talent Show. He moved from Louisville Ky to the Chicago area in High School and played in Concert, Marching and Jazz Band reading and writing charts for the drum section marching cadence.

Later, playing with various Rock Bands and Dinner Theatre show bands put him on the road before finding he had a talent with computers as a field engineer. Although trading the thrill of being full-time professional musician in favor of making a steady income, Greg never lost his passion for playing with other musicians for the pleasure of live audiences.

Dave McDonagh Saxophones/Vocals

Dave has been playing professionally for years. He was a member of several bands in the Midwest, as well as in Central America. In 2018 Dave was inducted into the Music Hall of fame in his home town of Toledo, Ohio. He says "the music we make brings us and the audience together as one. 

Jim Hooper Bass/Vocals

  

Jim began his musical oddesy playing trombone in the school band in fifth grade. His passion for music  led to Bachelor and Master’s of Music Education degrees from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and a career in public education. His twenty years as a band director were followed by twenty years as a school administrator. In 2010, Jim was inducted into the

Oklahoma Bandmasters Association Hall of Fame.

He has performed as bass player in Big Bands, jazz combos, rock and country bands, and community theater musicals in the pit and on the stage.
